Division Battle: Maple Leafs vs Senators

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 3-10-5 (Last in the Northeast)

Ottawa Senators Record: 8-6-3 (3rd in the Northeast)

Maple Leafs Record vs. Senators Since 2005: 12-14-2-3

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Vesa Toskala... sooooo Sens win!

Senators Likely Goalie: Pascal Leclaire

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Tomas Kaberle (2 goals, 21 points)

Senators Top Scorer: Daniel Aldredsson (6 goals, 19 points)

Injury Report: Leafs D-man Mike "No Talent" Komisarek is still out with a sore vagina. Senators D-man Anton Volchenkov is still nursing and elbow injury

Preview Notes: The Senators claimed the first round of this divisional series, a 2-1 win on October 6th. Ottawa has struggled lately after a strong start, and Alfredsson states the obvious:

"It’s not easy to win games," Alfredsson said. "You look at the standings and it's extremely close. Every game is important."

The Maple Leafs still love giving opposing teams early leads like Eric Lindros loves skating with his head down. Coach Ron Wilson has publicly expressed his displeasure, but no one in Toronto cares. You poor, poor Toronto fans. You have nothing to look forward too. Well, maybe Kessel. He's going good. You have Kessel guys.

Leafs Lose..... No one Surprised

Three Stars:
1. Jarome Iginla (2 goals, being awesome)
2. Miikka Kiprusoff (38 saves, being awesome)
3. Francois Beauchemin (1 goal, 1 assist, on an awful team)

Final Score:
Calgary Flames: 5
Toronto Maple Leafs: 2

Goalie Stats
Miikka Kiprusoff: SV: 38 SV%: .950 GA: 2
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 2 SV%: .400 GA: 3
Vesa Toskala: SV: 15 SV%: .882 GA: 2

Recap Notes:
- Gustavsson allowed 3 goals on 5 shots... the bubble has officially burst
- Experts said Kessel would be nothing without Savard... Kessel is lighting it up on a shitty team
- I mean seriously... the Maple Leafs suck ass. Kessel made a huge mistake
- But he wipes his ass with our yearly salary
- Iginla and Nystrom scored 16 seconds apart
- It was 80's night in Toronto... and the team played like they did in the 80's
- That means they really sucked, for you youngsters

Preview: Flames vs Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: HAHAHAHAHAHA

Calgary Flames Record: 11-4-2

Maple Leafs Record vs. Flames Since 2005: 2-2-0

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson, as it should be

Flames Likely Goalie: Miikka Kiprusoff, who else?

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Alexei Ponikarovsky (7)

Flames Top Scorer: Jarome Iginla (9)

Injury Report: Mike Komisarek is resting his vagina err...quadriceps for the next few weeks.

Preview Notes: The only thing that may give Toronto a chance is The Monster in net and that Kessel is getting his groove back. Well that and that fact that Kiprusoff is probably starting to get tired from starting nearly EVERY game. That being said, the Flames have not had the best history when traveling to Toronto, but this year's Leafs team is special (like retard special, not good special) so we'll see what happens.

Toronto Loses, Big Suprise.

Three Stars:
1. Duncan Keith (1 goal, 1 assist)
2. Phil Kessel (2 goals, 0 assists)
3. Patrick Kane (1 goal, 0 cabbie KOs)

Final Score:
Toronto Maple Leafs: 2
Chicago Blackhawks: 3

Goalie Stats
Vesa Toskala: SV: 31 SV%: .912 GA: 3
Cristobal Huet: SV: 29 SV%: .935 GA: 2

Recap Notes:

-Phil Kessel got the only points for Maple Leafs, go figure.
-Despite the score, Toskala played well? Interesting.
-Kane went all night without physically assaulting a cabbie!!
-Schenn is pressing robbery charges against Kane.
-In fairness to Toronto, they got robbed of a goal at the end of the first.
-Toronto faces a better goalie in Kiprusoff tonight

Preview: Toronto visits Chicago

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 3-8-5

Chicago Blackhawks Record: 10-5-2

Maple Leafs Record vs. Blackhawks Since 2005: 0-2-1-0

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Vesa Toskala

Blackhawks Likely Goalie: Cristobal Huet

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Tomas Kaberle (2 goals, 20 points)

Blackhawks Top Scorer: Patrick Kane (5 goals, 17 points)

Injury Report: Chicago's Marian Hossa (shoulder) is still a couple weeks away. Dav Bolland (back surgery) is out for 3-4 months.

Once again, Toronto's blueline will get a boost as Mike Komisarek is out three weeks with a quad tear.

Preview Notes: Well the Blackhawks can go ahead and just put a W in the win/loss column as Vesa Toskala is in net tonight.

Toronto has been absolutely abysmal this season but has shown signs of life since Gustavsson and Kessel came back from injury. Luckily for the Leafs, Toskala and their awful D, this is the only game of the season against Original Six opponent Chicago.

Huet hasn't been strong himself and the 'Hawks have been struggling a bit but Cabbie Kane and the rest of the boys are incredibly dangerous and will most likely make this a very unpleasant night for Leafs Nation.

Maple Leafs Go Back to Their Roots... Play Poorly

Three Stars:
1. Niklas Backstrom (37 saves)
2. Mikko Koivu (1 goal, 2 assists)
3. Marek Zidlicky (1 goal, 1 assist)

Final Score:
Minnesota Wild: 5
Toronto Maple Leafs: 2

Goalie Stats
Niklas Backstrom: SV: 37 SV%: .949 GA: 2
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 26 SV%: .867 GA: 4

Recap Notes:
- The Wild came out pissed that the Canadiens stole their jerseys
- They were also pissed that they are called the Wild
- Kessel seems set on making the Bruins look bad
- He is still half a man
- Took longer than I thought for the Toronto D to completely hang Gustavsson out to dry
- Mike Komisarek got hurt... this immediately boosts Toronto's D
- Probably cut himself shaving his vagina
- Backstrom wishes the Wild had that kind of offense for him every night
- As a Toronto player, you always want your coach saying things like this: ``We're not good enough to get full of ourselves after we've had a couple of good weeks. I was a little disappointed in our approach, but more teaching tools for me.''
- After a pair of minor penalties to the Wild, Toronto pulled Gustavsson to get a 6 on 3... they didn't score.
- Maple Leafs are off until Friday when they visit Chicago

Battle of the Lacklusters, Wild vs. Toronto

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 3-7-5

Minnesota Wild Recod: 6-10-0

Maple Leafs Record vs. Wild Since 2005: 1-2-0

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson (3-2-3, GAA: 2.60

Wild's Likely Goalie: Niklas Backstrom (6-8-0, GAA: 2.63)

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Alexei Ponikarovsky (6)

Wild's Top Scorer: Andrew Brunette (7)

Injury Report: Mike Van Ryn is out for the season for Toronto. Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Kim Johnsson are on the the Wild's IR.

Preview Notes: No, that image has nothing to do with anything, but we needed to do something to liven up a match between Toronto Maple Leafs and Minnesota Stupid Names Wild. Neither team is doing particularly well in their division, or in the league for that matter.

Funny enough, the Wild have double the wins, but only one more point than Toronto. It should be a close match up, but that isn't the same as a good match up. Unless you're a die hard Maple Leafs/Wild fan, the best reason to watch this potential re-re fest is to hopefully watch Kessel get ruined again.

Poor Yzerman, Bad Night to be Inducted into the Hall of Fame

Three Stars:
1. Jonas Gustavsson
2. Jonas Gustavsson
3. Jonas Gustavsson

Final Score:
Detroit Red Wings: 1
Toronto Maple Leafs: 5

Goalie Stats
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 35 SV%: .972 GA: 1
Chris Notgood : SV: 23 SV%: .821 GA: 5

Recap Notes:

-Way to lose all credibility Red Wings.
-Kessel got his first goal for Toronto tonight, he also picked up an assist. Must be the power of the Chemo.
-All 5 Toronto goals came from different players.
-Gustavsson continues to be awesome.
-Sorry Maple Leafs...I'm not ready to say you're turning it around yet, you need more than 3 wins for that.

Hall of Fame Game: Wings vs Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 2-7-5 (Last in the Northeast)

Detroit Red Wings Record: 7-4-3 (3rd in the Central)

Maple Leafs Record vs. Red Wings Since 2005: 2-1

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson

Red Wings Likely Goalie: Chris Osgood

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Tomas Kaberle (2 goals, 18 points)

Red Wings Top Scorer: Henrik Zetterberg (4 goals, 13 points)

Injury Report:Stanley Cup losers Detroit will be without Johan Frazen (knee, pussy), Filppula (wrist) and Lilja (post-concussion symptoms). Brad May is questionable (eye).

The Leafs will be without Mike Van Ryn (knee)

Preview Notes: This is the first and only game of the season between this two Original Six rivals.

In the all-time series (regular season and playoffs) Toronto has 332 wins, 333 losses and 93 ties against Detroit. The Maple Leafs hold an edge in goals scored, beating the Red Wings 2155-2144.

Osgood is suddenly on a hot streak in net (3 game win streak), and his opponent Gustavsson has been great as well (going 2-0-3 since returning from injury).

With Toronto playing better lately and the Red Wings not having the scoring touch of seasons past, this game just might not be the blow out we expected 2 weeks ago. With the Wings still crying about the Penguins, maybe the Leafs can take advantage. But probably not.

Hurricanes Officially Worst Team in the Leauge

Three Stars:
1. Jason Blake (1 goal, 1 assist, only pooped his pants once!)
2. Jonas Gustavsson (34 saves, .944 GAA)
3. Brandon Sutter (1 goal)

Final Score:
Toronto Maple Leafs: 3
Carolina Hurricanes: 2

Goalie Stats
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 34 SV%: .944 GA: 2
Cam Ward: SV: 23 SV%: .885 GA: 3

Recap Notes:
- Wow... how terrible are the Hurricanes
- I mean, they blew a 2-0 lead to the Maple Leafs
- Gustavsson might be awesome... too bad his team sucks
- Leafs have a habit of being severely outshot
- Leafs doubled their win total tonight... they now have 2!
- Kessel got an assist and wasn't crushed tonight
- Canes have lost 11 in a row, but more importantly... they really, really suck
- Bruins are pissed the Leafs keep getting points... they need that 1st overall pick!
- Leafs meet old rival Detroit tonight
- Enjoy some "highlights" below:

Preview: Two Worst Teams in the League!!!

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: Atrocious 1-7-5

Carolina Hurricanes Record: Awful 2-9-3

Maple Leafs Record vs. Whalers Since 2005: 7-5-3-1

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson

Hurricanes Likely Goalie: pylon Cam Ward

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Tomas Kaberle (2 goals, 17 points)

Whalers Top Scorer: Geoff Sanderson Ray Whitney (4 goals, 8 points)

Injury Report: The Leafs will be without Mike Van Ryn (knee) and Jamie Heward (concussion). The Hurricanes will be without Eric Staal (injured vagina). Staal was injured at a gay bath house.

Preview Notes: This game will most likely be painful to watch. Sorry Leafs fans, but they are awful. Hurricanes fans... I'm not sorry, your team sucks. Seriously.

This will be Kessel's 2nd game of the season. Despite not registering a goal Kessel looked great in his first action of the season, even making great plays from the ground

Carolina has lost 10 in a row. 10! They have also been outscored 19-4 in their last 4 games. The team that loses tonight will be the worst team in the league, stats wise. Is it possible to just call it a tie?

Keep your head up Kessel!

Kessel Gets Rude Welcome Back

Three Stars:
1. Antero Niittymaki (40 saves, about 39 from Kessel)
2. Jonas Gustavsson (30 saves)
3. Phil Kessel (for being a brave, brave boy after getting beat up)

Final Score:
Tampa Bay Lightning: 2
Toronto Maple Leafs: 1

Goalie Stats
Antero Niittymaki: SV: 40 SV%: .976 GA: 1
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 30 SV%: .938 GA: 2

Recap Notes:
- Leafs lose again, but continue to get points
- Still worst team in the NHL
- Mattias Ohlund reminded Kessel to keep his head up
- Kessel might be the NHL's Terrel Owens... think he gave up on the Bruins
- But admittedly... Kessel did look good last night
- Gustavsson just may be the real deal
- If only there were good defenders in front of him
- Ves Toskala is probably on suicide watch
- Toronto announcers have trouble pronouncing players' names. A lot.
- Hagman should never fight again... ever.
- Kessel's wrist shot is quicker than him in bed.
- Thats really fast in case you were wondering
- Kessel took 10 shots (thinks he's Ovechkin!?)
- Toronto's next game is Friday against the Hurricanes

Preview: Tampa Bay vs. Toronto

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: Piss Poor

Tampa Bay Lightning Record: 4-4-4

Maple Leafs vs. Lightning Since 2005: 9-5-2

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson (1-2-2, GAA: 3.22)

Lightning's Likely Goalie: Antero Niittymaki (2-1-1, GAA: 2.18)

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Niklas Hagman (6)

Lightning's Top Scorer: Steven Stamkos (10)

Injury Report: Kessel may be back for the Leafs starting tonight, we'll see.

Preview Notes: Well well well...if it isn't a team that Toronto may actually be able to beat. Not that it'll be easy for them, nothing is. Kessel should be able to provide a much needed boost, however a moderately trained monkey with downs syndrome could provide a boost to the Maple Leafs, albeit a hilarious one.

Seriously though, Toronto needs to get their asses in gear if they want any hopes of salvaging the season. Kessel seems more like the nerd that the Maple Leaf bullies would throw in a locker, but there is no denying the offense he could bring to the team. It'll be interesting to watch what transpires when he finally takes the ice.

Preview Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens

Maple Leafs Record: 1-7-3

Canadiens Record: 6-7-0

Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens Since 2005: 15-9-7

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson (1-2-1 GAA: 3.29)

Canadiens Likely Goalie: Jaroslav Halak (4-2-0, GAA: 2.70)

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Niklas Hagman (6)

Canadiens Top Scorer: Mike Cammalleri (5)

Injury Report: Toronto still anxiously awaits the return of Phil Kessel, who's probably regarded as some sort of potential messiah there. Tim Brent is also on the IR.

Markov is still CUT off the roster for Montreal and is paying the PRICE of his injuries.

Preview Notes:
-Original six match up
-Interdivisional match up
-Toronto still sucks
-So does Price
-Canadiens looking forward to a potential easy win after facing two of the top leagues in the NHL
-Leafs are the ONLY team in the league with one win. Curse those pesky Islanders and Hurricanes for sucking slightly less.

Connolly, Miller Burn Leafs

Three Stars:
1. Tim Connolly (2 goals, 1 assist, OT hero)
2. Ryan Miller (33 saves, still a beast)
3. Tomas Kaberle (2 assists, heating up?)

Final Score:
Buffalo Sabres: 3
Toronto Maple Leafs: 2

Goalie Stats
Ryan Miller: SV: 33 SV%: .943 GA: 2
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 25 SV%: .893 GA: 3

Recap Notes:
- Ryan Miller is ridiculously good
- Tim Connolly is a great fantasy hockey sleeper, go pick him up
- Maple Leafs showing more fight, but still can't get it done
- Tomas Kaberle may just be auditioning for his future team...
- Gustavsson is good, not great, but has shitty team in front of him
- Grabovski had a nice late goal to tie it up and temporarily give the Leafs hope
- The Maple Leafs have no hope
- Ryan Miller is really, REALLY good

Preview: Maple Leafs vs Sabres

Buffalo Sabres Record: 7-1-1 (1st in the Northeast)

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 1-7-2 (Last in the Northeast/NHL)

Sabres Record vs. Maple Leafs Since 2005: 21-8-0-1

Sabres Likely Goalie: Ryan "Fantasy Gold" Miller

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson

Sabres Top Scorer: Clarke MacArthur (5 goals, 7 points)

Maple Leafs Top Scorer: Tomas Kaberle (10 assists, 11 points)

Injury Report: Buffalo will be without Andrej Sekera (rib) and Toni Lydman (groin). Paul Gaustad is a game time decision (flu).

Toronto will be without Phil Kessel (shoulder, balls)

Preview Notes:
- First meeting this year for these divisional foes
- The Maple Leafs have not been the sure win they were earlier in the season these past 4 games. Doesn't mean they've been good, but hey they're only one point behind the Panthers!
- Sabres on 5 game win streak against Northeast opponents
- Maple Leafs have already given up and said just to throw another win and shutout on Ryan Miller's record
- Buffalo may be having concussion problems: Henrik Tallinder said rookie Tyler Myers is comparable to Zdeno Chara... skill wise.
- Toronto... surprisingly leads the league on the power play at 30.77%
- Toronto is also the worst on the penalty kill... 63.41%. Not surprising.

Leafs... earn another point? Still Lose!

Three Stars:
1. Mike Ribeiro (1 goal, 1 assist)
2. Nikolai Kulemin (2 goals)
3.Brad Richards (2 goals)

Final Score:
Dallas Stars: 4
Toronto Maple Leafs: 3

Goalie Stats
Marty Turco: SV: 33 SV%: .917 GA: 3
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 32 SV%: .889 GA: 4

Recap Notes: The Toronto Maple Leafs earned at least a point for their second straight game. Nope, not a typo. They really did!

Toronto fell to the Dallas Stars in overtime behind the strong play of Marty Turco. I feel dirty all over just typing that. Mike Ribeiro scored last to tie the game and James Neal capitalized on a juicy rebound in OT to give the Stars the victory. Unfortunately for Boston's draft chances the Maple Leafs are racking up points!!! Or not.

We here at Adams Division would also like to congradulate Mike Komisarek for going an entire game without scoring on his goalie or finishing with a minus. Here's to you Mikey!

Preview: Maple Leafs vs Stars

Verses: Dallas Stars

Toronto's Record: 1-7-1

Dallas's Record: 5-2-4

Toronto's Record vs. Dallas Since 2005: 0-3-0

Toronto's Likely Goalie: Jonas Gustavsson (1-2 GAA: 3.07)

Dallas's Likely Goalie: Marty Turco(3-5, GAA: 2.19)

Toronto's Top Scorer: Niklas Hagman (6)

Dallas's Top Scorer: Brenden Morrow (6)

Injury Report: Only injury really affecting Toronto is Vesa Toskala who is DTD with a knee injury, but seeing as how Gustavsson got the first win on the season, I'm sure no one cares much. Kessel is still nursing his shoulder for about another month. Tim Brent and Mike Van Ryn are also out

Jere Lehtinen, Mike Modano, and Matt Niskanen are all listed as DTD for Dallas, chances are we probably won't be seeing any of them play.

Preview Notes: This has the potential to be a close match up...how sad for Dallas. Leafs are sure to be all smiles coming into the game on a one win streak, and will look to increase that to a season best of two. As dirty as I feel saying this, Turco has been on a bit of a hot streak lately, so Toronto's shooters may have their work cut out for them (more so than usual). Dallas's resident bully Steve Ott will sit this game out after being suspended due to a cheap shot, big surprise there.

Maple Leafs Los... Win?

Three Stars:
1. Niklas Hagman (Hat trick!)
2. Tomas Kaberle (1 goal, 4 assists)
3. Scott Niedermayer (2 assists, 5 hits, +1)

Final Score:
Toronto Maple Leafs: 6 (Really?!!?)
Anaheim Ducks: 3

Goalie Stats
Jonas Gustavsson: SV: 25 SV%: .893 GA: 3
Jonas Hiller: SV: 40 SV%: .870 GA: 6

Recap Notes: The Toronto Maple Leafs decided to do the exact opposite of everything they have done up to this point in the season. They took 46 shots, scored on 5 of 11 power plays and only took 3 penalties themselves on route to their first victory of the season.

Someone on the Ducks is getting fired today for being the first team to lose to the Maple Leafs... and Anaheim wasn't even competitive. Jonas Hiller seemed soft and every defenseman not named Scott Neidermayer seemed disinterested in playing anything resembling hockey.

Kaberle's 5 points were a career high, as were Lee Stempniak's 4. Petteri Nokelainen, Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry scored for the cake eating Ducks.

Gustavsson looked good in his first game in 3 weeks and made a couple of ridiculous saves (high lights below). But Anaheim took 17 penalties and played some sloppy seconds hockey, Sean Avery style. It was like watching an AHL team against an NHL team... except that the Maple Leafs play like an AHL team as well.

Toronto was supposed to visit the Dallas Stars tomorrow, but Brian Burke announced the team will not play the remainder of the season so they can eat on a win "streak." Yes, 1 is a streak for the Maple Leafs.

Here's some highlights... including George Parros' epic mustache fighting Colton Orr.
