This Day In Bruins History...

On November 12th, 1990 Boston Bruins defenseman Gord Kluzak retired after playing just 299 games.

Kluzak was drafted in 1982 when Harry Sinden thought he'd be a better player than Brian Bellows. In 1984 he tore ligaments in his left knee and missed the rest of the season. He re-injured the same knee in 1986 and missed yet another season.

Gord Kluzak holds the distinction of playing the least amount of NHL games ever by a #1 overall draft pick and was just one of many poor choices in the history of Bruins drafting.

This Day In History

With no games yesterday and no Northeast teams in action tonight, things are a little slow here today on Adams. On days like this, and whenever we feel like it, we'll try to bring new features in.

Today, we'll go with "This Day in History":

On October 19, 1957 Montreal Canadiens forward Maurice Richard scored his 500th NHL goal when he beat Chicago Blackhawks goalie Glenn Hall. Richard would finish his career with 544 regular season and 82 post-season goals.

"When he came flying toward you with the puck on his stick," Hall remembered, "his eyes were all lit up, flashing and gleaming like a pinball machine. It was terrifying."

Richard played 18 years with the Montreal Canadiens, winning 8 Stanley Cups, and in the '44-'45 season he became the first NHL player ever to score 50 goals in a season, and did it in 50 games.
