More Bad News For Bruins, Lucic Out 4-6 Weeks

Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced today that forward Milan Lucic would be out 4-6 weeks after having surgery on his right index figner yesterday. This is a very unforunate turn of events for a Bruins team already hurting, but very good news for Mike Komisarek's face and pride.

On the plus side for the Bruins, Dennis Wideman returned to practice today. No word on whether or not he'll play Wednesday agains the Predators. Also no word on whether or not anyone will ever try to work with him to improve his shot accuracy.

As noted yesterday Vladimir Sobotka, Brad Marchand and Guillaume Lefebvre were called up from the Bruin's AHL affiliate in Providence. Sobotka is expected to see time on the second line, at least to start the game.

It's been confirmed that Boston Bruin's fan favorite Milan Lucic has signed a three year contract extension. No financial details have been confirmed yet. The Bruins will hold a press conference tomorrow following practice with more information.

UPDATE: The deal is reportedly worth $12.25 million, which brings the cap hit for Lucic to $4,083,333. The Bruins will pay Lucic $4 million in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, and $3.25 million in 2012-2013 with a $1 million signing bonus.

Milan Lucic Back At Practice, Not Dead

When Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic missed practice yesterday the rumors started flying. Was he hurt? He was seen limping around after the raping game against the Hurricanes! Oh no!

Lucic is in jail for his continued assault on the faces of opponents! One site even reported Lucic had a broken leg.

Well, Claude Julien cleared that up real quick and let the idiot media know that Mr. Lucic missed yesterday's pratice for "non-hockey related personal issues." Hmm, so much for that broken leg.

Well Milan Lucic is back on the ice today despite that "broken leg" or "broken hand" or whatever other made up injury people gave him.

The Boston Bruins face off against the Anaheim Mighty Duck on Thursday at the TD Garden.

Northeast Fight Club: Bruins Draw First Blood

There were four official fights involving Northeast teams last night (not including Zdeno Chara absolutely molesting one of the Hartford Whalers Hurricanes players who tried to cheap shot him.

The Boston Bruins met the expert cheap shot artists and resident coward Carolina Hurricanes looking for revenge... and much like a porn star the Bruins finished it on Carolina's face.

Our first fight was a second period bout that saw Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins destroy Jay Harrison of the Carolina Hurricanes. Reports have been coming in that Harrison was seen wandering around the streets of Boston after the game asking if anyone knew his name:

In the third period, Shawn Thornton, the classiest fighter in the league, took on ex-Bruin and current Carolina Hurricane Andrew Alberts. Alberts had to get his rectum checked after the fight as Thornton completely violated him:

A little further west, the Ottawa Senators were in New York to face the Rangers and decided to fight to save face... or at least that is the excuse I am using for them.

Ottawa's Matt Carkner took on Donald Brashear, who deserves to have his face punched in. This wasn't much of a fight as Brashear did one of his famous cheap shots on Carkner and then decided to hug him. I'd give the slight edge to Carkner in this hug fest:

In our last bout this evening, Ottawa's Mike Fisher took on the New York Rangers' Aaron Voros. Mike Fisher gave his best effort but in the end Voros edged him out:
