Game of the Year: Penguins Win!

Three Stars:
1. Pascal Dupuis (2 goals, including OT winner)
2. Sidney Crosby (1 goal, 2 assists)
3. Evgeni Malkin (3 assists)

Final Score:
Pittsburgh Penguins: 6
Boston Bruins: 5

Goalie Stats
Brent Johnson: SV: 28 SV%: .848 GA: 5
Tim Thomas: SV: 27 SV%: .818 GA: 6

Recap Notes:
- What a game. Seriously. Hockey at its finest
- So... safe to say the scoring drought is over for both teams
- What a difference Malkin makes
- Start the MVP chants Penguins fans
- Malkin looks unstoppable at times. Malkin > Ovechkin
- Really, the highlights speak for themselves
- But what an epic mistake by Tim Thomas:

Preview: Bruins visit Penguins.

Boston Bruins Record: 8-7-3

Pittsburgh Penguins Record: 12-7-0

Bruins Record vs. Penguins Since 2005: 10-4-0-2

Bruins Likely Goalie: Tim Thomas

Penguins Likely Goalie: Marc-Andre Fleury

Bruins Top Scorer: Patrice Bergeron (6)

Penguins Top Scorer: Sidney Crosby (9)

Injury Report: Umm...alot. Pittsburgh will be without, Maxime Talbot (shoulder), Sergei Gonchar (wrist), Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed), Kris Letang (shoulder), and Brooks Orpik (lower body).

Boston will still be without Marc Savard (broken foot)and Milan Lucic (finger).

Preview Notes: We got two teams here who really haven't been performing as well as they would like lately. B's won decisively last Tuesday against the Penguins, however, with Malkin coming back, the offensive dynamic of this team is going to be very different. The Bruins will be looking to keep doing what they've been doing on defense to disrupt any rhythm that Pittsburgh tries to generate. The Bruins best chance to win is for this game to NOT go to a shootout, because apparently when that happens, coach Julien becomes a blithering idiot.

Bruins Shut Down Slumping Penguins

Three Stars:
1. Tim Thomas (27 saves, shutout)
2. Zdeno Chara (no points, but he abused Crosby all night)
3. Matt Hunwick (1 goal)

Final Score:
Boston Bruins: 3
Pittsburgh Penguins: 0

Goalie Stats
Tim Thomas: SV: 27 SV%: 1.000 GA: 0

Recap Notes:
- Penguins D-man Brooks "Free Candy" Orpik went down about 10 minutes in
- The Penguins are now without their top 3 defenseman
- Crosby... stop trying to repeatedly deke out three opposing players... its not working
- Chara made Crosby his bitch for most of the night
- Fleury kept the Penguins in the game despite no support
- Bergeron auditioned to take over PJ Axelsson's role of empty net scorer
- Both teams were beat up.... and you could tell
- This was basically an AHL game
- Rematch on Saturday
- Bruins are beasts on defense the past few games
- Bruins welcome the Panthers tomorrow
- There should be no hockey teams in Florida

Preview: Stanley Cup Champs Visit Stanley Cup Droughts

Boston Bruins Record: 7-7-2 (3rd in the Northeast)

Pittsburgh Penguins Record: 12-5-0 (1st in the Atlantic)

Bruins Record vs. Penguins Since 2005: 10-4-0-2

Bruins Likely Goalie: Tim Thomas

Penguins Likely Goalie: Marc-Andre Fleury

Bruins Top Scorer: Patrice Bergeron (5 goals, 10 points)

Penguins Top Scorer: Sidney Crosby (9 goals, 16 points)

Injury Report: We may need to do another post just to list all the injuries between these two teams.

Pittsburgh will be without Evgeni Malkin (shoulder), Maxime Talbot (shoulder), Sergei Gonchar (wrist), Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) and Kris Letang (rabies from Scott Hartnell).

Boston will be without Marc Savard (broken foot)and Milan Lucic (finger). David Krejci is probable for tonight, but is recovering from the swine flu.

Preview Notes: The Penguins are struggling with injuries and fly into Boston after three games on the west coast. They're probably going to be more tired than Pierre McGuire's mouth after a visit to the Flyers locker room.

Captain Sidney Crosby is on a four game point-less streak, the longest of his career. The tighter Bruins defense, especially nudist Zdeno Chara, will try to extend that.

The Bruins have pretty much dominated the Penguins the last couple years. Perhaps this is payback for the Penguins constantly bouncing the Bruins from the playoffs in the early 90's. But while the Bruins have dominated the Penguins as of late, the Penguins have more Stanley Cups in the past year than Boston has had in 37...

This game has the potential to be really good, but with both teams struggling this could be uglier than a Maple Leafs post-game locker room.

Crosby, Penguins Teach Naughty Canadiens A Lesson

Three Stars:
1. Sidney Crosby (3 goals, get out the hats!)
2. Chris Kunitz (1 goal, 3 assists)
3. Bill Guerin (3 assists)

Final Score:
Pittsburgh Penguins: 6
Montreal Canadiens: 1

Goalie Stats
Marc-Andre Fleury: SV: 23 SV%: .958 GA: 1
Jaroslav Halak: SV: 19 SV%: .826 GA: 4
Carey Price: SV: 12 SV%: .857 GA: 2

Recap Notes: The Montreal Canadiens 4 game winning streak came to a screeching halt as Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury and the rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins showed Montreal how a real hockey team plays.

Fleury and the Penguins rebounded nicely from a sound drubbing by the New Jersey Trapazoids Devils and just absolutely molested the Canadiens.

Halak was pulled after two periods and 4 goals. Price went in and was... himself... and allowed 2 more on 14 shots.

Former Penguin and current Montreal road cone Hal Gill watched helplessly as his former team raped his team mates as he obstructed people in the neutral zone. Sidney Crosby scored the third hat trick of his career and is now on pace for 1,034,456 points this season. Imagine if he had real wingers playing with him.

With the victory over the Canadiens, Pittsburgh became the first team in the NHL to reach 10 wins this season.

Montreal will lick their wounds and return to action tomorrow night in Chicago against the explosive offense of the Blackhawks. Good luck Price/Halak.

Preview: Canadiens vs Penguins

Verses: Pittsburgh Penguins

Montreal's Record: 6-5-0

Pittsburgh's Record: 9-2-0

Montreal's Record vs. Pittsburgh Since 2005: 7-7-2

Montreal's Likely Goalie: Jaroslav Halak (4-1, GAA: 1.93)

Pittsburgh's Likely Goalie: Marc-Andre Fleury (8-1, GAA: 2.18)

Montreal's Top Scorer: Mike Cammalleri (5)

Pittsburgh's Top Scorer: Sidney Crosby (6)

Injury Report: Montreal's Olivier Fortier, Ryan O'Byrne, and Alex Henry are all sitting on the IR with various injuries. The biggie is still Andrei Markov who is still out for another 3 1/2 months coutesy of Mr. Price.

The Penguins will be without Maxime Talbot and Sergei Gonchar until November.

Preview Notes: I am assuming that Halak is getting the start tonight because I like to assume that Montreal isn't run by a bunch of helmet wearing retards. With four straight wins under his belt, it'd be foolish to take Halak out, even though he has not faced the Penguins in his career. Fleury suffered is first loss in his last start, but that shouldn't come into play much, look for the penguins to keep doing what they have been, because it's obviously working.

Sens Stop Crosby/Malkin, Not The Pens

The Ottawa Senators fell to 3-2-0 as they were defeated 4-1 by the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins (5-1-0).

Former San Jose Sharks Jonathan Cheechoo and Milan Michalek hooked up to score late in the first to put the Senators up 1-0. However 39 seconds later old man Bill Guerin showed why he's still in the league and nabbed a great rebound to tie the score heading into the second.

Leclaire played strong for the most part, but got very little effort in front of him as the game went on. Pittburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy took over in the second period, notching two goals, one an absolute snipe from the top of the circle that slipped by Leclaire. His first bounced off Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson's skate and past Leclaire.

Defensive beast Jordan Staal got his third goal in three games in the third, making the score 4-1. Ottawa never mounted a serious attack after that. Sidney Crosby was head scoreless and has yet to score in Ottawa in six regular season games.

Ottawa seemed demoralized in the third. They had hit a few posts and Kovalev missed a wide open net. After all that the team played like it had just given up. Coach Clouston should have something to say about that before Tampa Bay comes to town on Thursday.

Preview: Senators Welcome Crosby And The Penguins

The Ottawa Senators (3-1-0), riding a three game winning streak, welcome Crosby and the Malkamaniacs (4-1-0).

Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward and current Senator Alex Kovalev will look to pile on points after getting his first goal of the season.

The Penguins are coming of a 5-2 thrashing of the Maple Leafs on Saturday while the Senators are coming off a strong win against Kovalchuk and the Thrashers. Pittsburgh's power play came alive against the Leafs (not exactly an accomplishment) after going 2 of 15 through their first 4 games.

Last season against Pittsburgh the Senators stopped 19 of 21 power play opportunities on route to winning three of four games against the Penguins.

Further working in the Senators favor, superstar Sidney Crosby has never scored a regular season goal while visiting Scotiabank Place. Should be a great game between two teams on hot streaks!

Preview: Malkamaniacs Visit the Maple Leafs

Tonight the Toronto Maple Leafs host the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

Generally you would think the powerhouse Penguins would stomp the Maple Leafs but the Penguins always seem to bring their F game against Toronto. In fact, the last time the Penguins won a game against the Maple Leafs was on October 18, 2008. Since then the Penguins have dropped three straight, often in embarrassing fashion.

If you remember it was Pittsburgh's terrible loss to the Maple Leafs in February that sparked the coaching change and Pittsburgh's turn around. Thanks Maple Leafs!

Toronto's Jason Blake apparently hates Penguins, as he has 24 goals and 47 points over 46 games against Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are coming off a great win against the rival Philadelphia Flyers where the biggest idiot in the NHL Scott Hartnell tried to eat Kris Letang's finger. Hopefully AIDS are in Hartnell's future.

Toronto has yet to win this season and will hope they can continue their luck against Pittsburgh. The Maple Leafs will be without Jonas Gustavsson and Viktor Stalberg, both out with injuries. Toskala will have to with stand the onslaught of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin which could be a problem for Toskala, who would be a back up on any other team.

If the pre-season was any indication, the fists may fly tonight. You should see some of this:
