Leafs Loss Again, Off to Worst Start in Club History

Three Stars:
1. Roberto Luongo
2. Mason Raymond
3. Joey MacDonald

Final Score:
Vancouver Canucks: 3
Toronto Maple Leafs: 1

Goalie Stats
Roberto Luongo: SV: 35 SV%: .972 GA: 1
Joey MacDonald: SV: 22 SV%: .917 GA: 2

Recap Notes: Roberto Luongo played lights out and was just a goal better than Joey MacDonald as the Toronto Maple Leafs fell once again.

Admittedly this was probably Toronto's best effort of the season, but it is hard to build momentum when your own defenseman are putting goals in your net.

Mike Komisarek scored another goal, but unfortunately it was for the Canucks. Mason Raymond put a shot on net that was swept in by the idiotic Mike Homosarek.

Both of Vancouver's first period goals were scored on the power play. The Maple Leafs have the inability to play disciplined or kill a penalty, two of the biggest reasons they are win-less on the season. Still think it was a good idea to bring in a bunch of goons and undisciplined kids Burke?

The Maple Leafs did manage to put up 36 shots but they could only beat Luongo once, who is heating up and just played nuts. When you combine a hot goalie and Toronto's non-existent offense, you usually end up with a defeat.

And as if defeating the Maple Leafs on the scoreboard wasn't enough, the Canucks Tanner Glass tangled with Luke Schenn and introduced his fists to Schenn's face... repeatedly.

Preview: Winless Leafs Attempt to Beat Shaky Luongo

Verses: Vancouver Canucks

Toronto Maple Leafs Record: 0-6-1 (Last in the Northeast/League)

Vancouver Canucks Record: 4-5-0 (4th in the Northwest)

Maple Leafs Record vs. Canucks Since 2005: 0-3-0-1

Maple Leafs Likely Goalie: Joey MacDonald (yes, really)

Canucks Likely Goalie: Roberto Luongo, who could use some Viagra after being so soft so far this season

Preview Notes: The win-less Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Vancouver Sedins Canucks tonight in an NHL Canada battle.

It has been forever since the Maple Leafs had a game, which has been great for our eyes and stomachs. I would say something good about them, but we don't like to lie here at Adams Division.

The Canucks have not lived up to their expectations this season, largely due to the at times horrendous play of starter Roberto Luongo. Luongo is having a really rough start to the season but had a strong showing in a 3-2 victory over Chicago in his last game. Luckily for Luongo the Maple Leafs are averaging just two games a game. Luongo is also wreaking havoc with my fantasy team.

The Maple Leafs have not won a game in general in Vancouver in more than six years, and don't expect that streak to end tonight.

The momentum and confidence boost retained from the victory over Chicago should power the Canucks past the Maple Leafs, even though the Canucks Sedins power is divided in half.

Here is a photo slide show of some of the Maple Leafs highlights so far this season:

Luongo Rebounds, Canuckleheads Crush Canadiens

Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks were sick of losing.... and they took it out on the Montreal Canadiens in a 7-1 victory.

The Sedin twins activated their wonder powers and combined for two goals and five assists (Henrik had the two goals). At the end of the first period the Canucks had a 3-0 lead off of goals from Ryan Kesler, Mason Raymond and a power play tally from Steve Bernier.

Andrei Kostitsyn would stop consoling his brother long enough to get a power play goal, but it was all Vancouver from that point on as they would go on to score 4 un-answered goals, with Mikaeal Samuelsson and Alex Burrows piling onto the score.

Montreal got the first 14 shots of the second period but for the first time this season Luongo attempted to show he is one of the best goalies in the NHL (and finally have a decent start for my fantasy team, jerk).

It was a rough night for Jim Carey Price after two great starts in his firt two games. Price was completely embarassed in front of the large number of family and friends he had in the crowd.

"It was pretty disappointing not being able to play [last year], but this is even more disappointing," said Price, with a fresh, fist-sized hole in the wall beside his locker. "I battled as hard as I could."

In an attempt to spark his team, the slow footed, lumbering, defensively liability known as Hal Gill went fisticuffs with the much smaller Rick Rypien. Gill proceeded to have his ass handed to him:

Montreal will lick their wounds and get back to action Saturday in Edmonton.
