Bruins fall to Blue Jacks 6-5 in a Shootout

"Not inspirational, to say the least," Julien said. "There's some work we need to do here. Lots of work before the season starts and make some of those corrections. Hopefully we can get that in during the latter part of training camp."

Obviously a rough night for the Boston Bruins, as their coach had no problem admitting. Andrew Ference scored in his first game back from injury. Chuck Kobasew, Shawn Thornton, Johnny Boychuk and Marc Savard also scored regulation goals. Blake Wheeler was on the only Bruin able to beat Columbus goaltender Mathieu Garon in the shootout.

For Columbus Jakub Voracek had a goal and two assists, while Antoine Vermette, Matthew Calvert, Kris Russell and Derek MacKenzie also scored.

Rookie Nikita Filatov and Antoine Vermette both scored in the shootout to seal the victory for the Blue Jackets.

Sabourin basically handed the back-up job to Tuuka Rask after his performance. Sabourin has stated he would like to be a starting goalie in the NHL but he looks like he might be more suited to be a starting goalie for a local roller hockey team.
