Preview: Atlanta vs. Montreal

Verses: Atlanta Thrashers

Montreal's Record: 2-5-0

Atlanta's Record: 4-1-0

Montreal's Record vs. Atlanta Since 2005: 9-4-0

Montreal's Likely Goalie: Carey Price

Atlanta's Likely Goalie: Ondrej Pavelec

Preview Notes: No doubt Ilya Kovalchuk is licking his lips right now just thinking about some of the juicy, juicy opportunities he'll be getting tonight. Now despite being a Boston native, I respect all that Montreal has accomplished in the NHL, but there is no denying that they just don't look good and it's hard to be positive at this point. Granted, they're still far better off than Toronto, but I digress.

It's not simply a case of how poor Montreal may look, but Atlanta is off to its best start since it became a team. They've had just 13 goals against in 5 total games, and are averaging 4 goals a game. To capitalize on what little hope Montreal has of turning it's season around, it will take some veteran play from their players, tonight would be a good time to start.

UPDATE: It looks like Halak will be getting the start for Montreal tonight. I guess it really can't hurt at this point.
