Recap: Sabres Hand Coyotes First Defeat

The Sabres move to 1-0-1 after beating Pheonix 2-1 in a game that stayed locked in a 0-0 tie during the first two periods.

Luckly for me, that makes this recap really easy.

Both Miller and LaBarbera saw a fair number of shots and put up some impressive numbers. Miller managed 23 saves on 24 shots faced, whereas LaBarbera stopped 37 of 39 shots.

Phoenix drew first blood early in the 3rd on a Matther Lombardi power play goal, assisted by both Adrian Aucoin and Shane Doan. Buffalo struck back not two minutes later when Clark McArthur scored for the Sabres on an assist by Tyler Myers. Vanek managed to score the game winner on a power play goal after being cross-checked by Jim Vandermeer.

Both teams had their fair share of penalties, however Phoenix's came at worse times. With the game tied 1-1, the Coyotes totalled six penalty minutes in just the 3rd period, with Upshall serving four of them. What does coach Tippett have to say? Well the genius states: "That's bad discipline on our part and that's situations that can't happen.". No shit Tippett, no shit...

Martin Hanzal and Patrick Kaleta decided things were getting too rough and hugged to work out their differences:

Buffalo's next game comes up Saturday against the Nashville sexual Predators
