Canadiens Get Defensive, Sign M.A. Bergeron

Marc-Andre Bergeron, last seen settings traps for the Minnesota Wild, has signed a deal with the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens are placing him in the IR because they just assume that is where he will end up.

The deal is reportedly for one year at $750,000. With Andrei Markov going down in a knife fight and Ryan O'Byrne out with depression because Markov went down in a knife fight, Montreal definitely needs the defensive help.

In 72 games last year Bergeron had 14 goals and 32 points (18 points on the power play) and was a plus 5. At 5'10" he is tall enough to sit at the big kid's table during Montreal Canadiens meetings.
